Levit & James, founded in 1987 in Leesburg Virginia, is a software company which specializes in document conversion and add-in products for Microsoft Word. Our initial focus was in custom software applications for mini-computers and computer consulting for Fortune 500 corporations, large law firms and professional associations.
Our focus changed in 1992, when we offered our first document conversion and migration product, Mass Transit. Mass Transit helped organizations migrate from Wang VS mini-computers to PC Networks, converting Wang documents into all of the then popular word-processing systems, and automatically building profiles in the customer's document management system (DMS). In 1996, we released CrossTown, which migrated hundreds of our customers from the SoftSolutions DMS to DOCS Open.
In 1998, we released CrossWords, which rapidly became the most popular WordPerfect to Word conversion utility used in law firms and government agencies. Over 450 organizations have purchased CrossWords to perform their conversion from WordPerfect to Word.
Our Word add-in products, Best Authority (released in 2006), CrossEyes (2001), and Stylizer (2000) add new features to Word which dramatically increase user productivity, and reduce complex time-consuming tasks from hours, to just minutes. CrossFingers is a life-saver, which repairs damaged or corrupt Word documents.
Today, our customers include 60% of the top 200 law firms in the United States, agencies in the Federal, and State and Local government, corporations of all sizes, and a variety of corporations and law firms in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and other parts of the world.
